My name
is Bobbie Jenkins and I create all of my handmade, one of a kind,
lampwork glass beads Select a category below to start browsing! In order to make these glass beads you use a stainless steel mandrel coated with a bead release. The glass is melted in a propane-oxygen torch and wrapped around the mandrel creating the bead. You then mix, smash, and decorate to design and create that particular bead that you want. The next step is to put the bead into a kiln to anneal at 960 degrees. The reason that beads are annealed is that stress can form within the glass and can cause cracking and breakage. The bead is put into the kiln to soak at a certain temperature to eliminate internal stress and then slowly cooled down to prevent any new stress from developing. When the annealing process is completed, the beads are removed from the kiln, taken off the mandrel and cleaned. At that point they are then ready for you to be made into something spectacular for everyone to enjoy! Hope you enjoy browsing and if you have any questions feel free to email me. Thanks for visiting!! ~Bobbie
